Thank you for sharing your precious angel's story! My 7 week old grandson has just been diagnosed with MCAD. He has had several close calls already in his short little life. The first was in the viewing window in the newborn nursery. Thanks again for raising awareness on this very important issue and I am so sorry for your loss. Your family will be in my prayers.

Dropping by again with knowing hugs and tears as the first anniversary of Alexis' Homegoing approaches. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make the pain go away. . .but mine never has. I wish I could tell you it gets easier. . .but I have not found it to be so. What it does is get deeper and richer and more meaningful and becomes something beautiful that our Lord can use to draw us and others to Himself. May you know His loving arms are holding you tight and that both He and Alexis smile upon you.

I work at the state lab and we had a meeting on MCAD and I think the sooner a parent knows what is going on in there childs' life, the better. I myself have two little children and to know that your child can be living a healthy life one day and gone the next is very scary. We are currently trying to find a way where we can do the test when the baby is first born. And the fee for the testing is nothing when it comes to your childs' life.
To the parents of Alexis, I am sorry for your lost. You have a beautiful daughter and believe me she is just as beautiful as an angel. May God bless you and your family.

This is so sad, and to think that it would not have had to happen. We have a grand child with galactosemia, she is going on 13. She was one week old when she was diagnozed,by then she had spinal meningitis and in I.C.U for 6 weeks. So we as grandparents are now aware of these things. altho, we didn't know much about anything before Kaitlyn was born.
so sad, you have my deepest sympathy.

Our good friends lost their 19 month old daughter to MCADD two weeks ago. About 30 minutes ago her mother told me briefly about her cause of death. I am so sad for them and will read your website to learn more about it. I'm sorry for your loss as well. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and knowledge with the rest of us-- what a beautiful tribute and legacy for your daughter.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just lost my first grandchild on Jan. 6, 2004. She was 3 1/2 weeks old. I can only imagine how much more the loss would hurt if I had the opportunity to be with her longer and know her better. My prayers are with you. I saw your granddaughter's pictures on the web site. She is a beautiful little girl. I am sure she brought you much love and joy. Feel free to e-mail me any time.

Just wanted to let you know that you are in our prayers, especially at this special time when memories are even more poignant and the pain becomes even keener as for the first time you celebrate the remembrance of Alexis birth without her being in your arms. I thank our Lord so much for Heaven and pray you may know His love, compassion and comfort right now in a very special way.

9 years ago today, at 6:11 pm, we were blessed with the most wonderful gift, our beautiful, precious granddaughter, Alexis. From that minute on, she touched our lives and changed us forever. She was here for 8 years and filled our lives with joy, happiness and love. We cherish every moment we had together and every precious memory we have.
We thank you, Shaun, Kelly and Jason for giving us such a wonderful gift.
Alexis, we know God has you in His keeping and that you are in the arms of His Angels. Alexis, we think of you everyday and we miss you. You will always be with us in our hearts and we will love you forever. A breath aways not far to where you are.
With all our love,
XOXO PaPa & MeMe

I come back to this guestbook and website often, just to read all the wonderful things that people who knew and loved Alexis had to say about her, and to look at her beautiful pictures. I still think about her everyday and about the loss that you, Kelly and Jason and (my brother)Jack and Pam have suffered and I pray for you all everyday.

You might be interested in learning that a group of students in our middle school in the heart of the country have agreed to take steps to inform others of possible screening. They have formed a team for gathering stories of disabled persons in our community for our web page. They will link to the life story of your beautiful child, and hopefully, make a difference for other newborns. They have started an email campaign to elected officials. Kids Can Make a Difference.

I LOST MY GRANDSON TO THIS AWFUL DISEASE MCADE. I AM A VERY ANGRY PERSON AND HOPE AND PRAY THEY DO A TEST FOR THIS MANDITORY WHEN A BABY IS BORN. I THINK THIS NEEDS TO GO TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. WE DO ALOT FOR OTHER COUNTRIES AND DO NOT EVEN DO THIS FOR OUR BABIES. SORRY ABOUT YOUR CHILD AND ALL THE KIDS WITH THIS AWFUL DISEASE. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
