If there was only a way to send an email to Heaven, I would be wishing her a very special Christmas this year. But then, she's in Heaven, and I think there is nothing that could be more joyful than spending Christmas with Jesus himself. As I am getting ready for the Christmas Eve service at church tonight, I again realize she is never far from my thoughts, and always close to my heart, and it gives me great happiness to know she is with our Lord and Savior for His birthday celebration. Merry Christmas, Alexis, and to all of you who are visiting our website this Holiday Season. ~Alexis' Grandma Kris

I just lost my mom In August. As an only child with grandkids of my own, I feel so alone now. She was my rock, I jusr never realized it till she was not there for my to talk too. I know now she is in no pain anymore, that is comforting to me. I loved my MOM.

Such a beautiful site. Of course I am crying because we just lost our precious son on Aug. 23, 2004 after a 4 year battle with leukemia. He had Down Syndrome and was the most precious gift God could have thought to give us, but he took him home when he was only 21. Too short a time, we miss him dreadfully. Thank you so much for the uplift.

May God bless your family.
"A Birthday in Heaven" is a beautiful poem. My mother (83) passed away last Sunday and her birthday is this Tuesday, November 22nd.
The poem is a comfort to me in this time of sorrow.

Thank you,

I am so sorry for your loss. The way I found out about Alexis is from one of the little book marks...I didn't know how it ended up in my locker but I'm glad it did! I keep it up on my wall in my bedroom. One of my friends told me about the web site this year and I was very eager to come see it. I love the fact you are trying to tell the story to people so they will be aware of mcadd.

Thinking of Alexis

it's lovely to see such lovely messages each time i view the site. I wanted to say that even though Sophie has now reached 4 months her MCAD is a pain the bum! She's had 2 visits to hospital, and a week long check at the DR's, every other week she's picking some illness, and not wanting to feed, then we have to give her Maxijul solution, she hats the taste but at least it helps her to get better. She's just been for her check up at Great Ormond Street Hosiptal and thankfully everything seems fine, although they have run a few more tests, just to make sure nothing else is wrong. She's now starting to be weaned onto solids, and I discovered that coconut is a no no, all the better for me, i get the cocunut chock bars for myself!!!
Have a very Happy Chrsitmas and New Year to all

My daughter was 21 months when she didn't wake up one morning. When we got her to the emergency room, they had no idea what was wrong with her. The only thing they knew was a low blood sugar (40). The doctors dismissed it and told us they would do more if it happened again. Luckily it didn't, but we are still plagued by unusual events; evere mood swings, poor sleeping and severe energy swings. She is 6 and 1/2 now and my husband wants me to just forget about it, but somewhere in me, I feel there is something wrong. To see my child crying and raging on the floor in the moring for no apparent reason is disturbing. When in these states, she lacks all her senses and says things that make no sense at all. Usually she is very clammy and sweaty, or very cold. We have been to two endo's, and they have offered us nothing. No one has ever tested her for MCAD or any of these other metabolic conditions. Does this sound familiar to anyone. She is an A+ student and an aspiring ballerina. I can't bear to see her and our family go through this. When she has these episodes, it tears our family apart. Can anyone Help?

Hello everyone,
I am glad to have found this website. My daughter was born in June of 2005 and was diagnosed with MCAD from the newborn screening tests. Thank Goodness I live in a state that tested for this illness. So far my daughter is a healthy happy baby and I know she will stay that way as long as we keep her fed and take her to the hospital whenever she is vomiting. God Bless.

So sorry for the loss of your daughter.
I have a grandson diagnosed with MCADD at 16 months old, after he had a flu bug and had a gran mall seizure. Took many tests at that time to diagnose him. He was in and out of the hospital for 2 years with seizures until he was diagnosed. He is 10 now and has been seizure free for 3 years, on Caritine and a low fat diet. He knows if he throws up he has to go to the hospital for a drip.
Infant testing needs to be a standard.
Sorry again for your loss.

I have just read about the life of Alexis and was deeply touched. I was looking for a poem for a little girl, a friend of ours who has recently been killed in a hit and run traffic accident. She leaves a sister behind... her twin... and a brother. I found the one Angels Child and it was so lovely. I send all my love to the family of Alexis and a big hug for Ally who is with the angels. Godbless, love to you all... Gail Friars.
