I was unresponsive when my mommy came into my room on the morning of February 10, 2002. I had thrown up in bed the about five hours before but was fine when I had to wake up to change my clothes. At CMH in PICU I had seizures on and off for about 10 hrs. My brain swelled too, so badly and quickly that they gave me 48 hrs. to live. My mommy bravely told me that if I had to go be an angel with God then I could go, that she would be with me again one day. Lots of people prayed for me and I started getting better. The doctors could not explain how I got there or why I survived. But now I am severely brain damaged. Before I could walk and sorta talk. Now I can't sit up, walk, hold my head up, talk, or even eat. I've been this way for 1 1/2 yrs now. I've had five surgeries and lots of therapy. They still can't explain what happened for sure. Dr. Dasouki couldn't say for sure either but maybe he didn't test for MCAD. My mommy keeps hearing through other people that know someone with a low or lacking enzyme. Now that my mommy saw the news story about Alexis she's going to call tomorrow to see if I had that test. She's been worrying a lot lately that she's not going to be able to wake me up one of these mornings. Maybe seeing the news tonight is a blessing in disguise. Perhaps Alexis is watching out for me. My mommy geives for me everyday. I'm not her same baby, but she loves me more than ever and I'm glad I didn't leave her.
